James Haskell has confirmed on Good Morning Britain that he and partner Chloe Madeley are expecting their first child together.

The retired rugby star announced the news on the show, appearing alongside Chloe's father Richard Madeley.

"Chloe and I are expecting our first child. We are going to be having a little girl, and you are going to be a grandfather once again," said Haskell.

Presenter and fitness influencer Madeley shared a picture of her three-month scan on Instagram, as well as a photograph of herself holding up a pink babygrow next to her grinning mother Judy Finnigan.

Richard joked that the girl "looks like she's reading the paper" in the scan photo, while Haskell revealed he has one key hope for the baby's arrival.

"Let's hope she has her mother's looks," he said. "Because if she looks anything like me we're in a spot of bother."

Haskell added: "I've seen Richard with his other grandson Kit, and he's the best grandfather in the world so I'm very, very happy."

Madeley's Instagram post was simply captioned "little one" and drew congratulations from other famous faces, including Davina McCall and Geordie Shore's Vicky Pattison.
