Chris Eubank Jr returns to action on Friday on the undercard of the World Boxing Super Series final to take on Ireland’s JJ McDonagh.

George Groves and Callum Smith headline the card in the WBSS super-middleweight final with the Londoner’s WBA title also on the line.

It was Groves who consigned Eubank to just the second defeat of his professional career in the semi-final of the competition last February, schooling his opponent over 12 rounds despite suffering a dislocated shoulder late on.

While Eubank is preparing for his undercard showdown with Irish super middleweight champion McDonagh, a spot in the final could still await.

If either Groves or Smith are unable to compete in Friday’s final, Eubank will step in for a chance to lift the Muhammad Ali Trophy, awarded to the competition winner.
