Chris Evans Divides Critics With Top Gear Reboot

Last night the reboot of BBC’s Top Gear finally hit our televisions after months and months of delays, drama and speculation - and, to be fair to the show, it wasn’t all bad.

In fact, new hosts Chris Evans and Matt Le Blanc seemingly split viewers right down the middle as 4.4million tuned in to see what the show will be like without Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May.

Although Chris was slammed by some for “trying to be Clarkson”, others defended the show as they admitted that they preferred it to the original line-up.

Taking to Twitter in their hundreds, viewers shared:

The different segments of the show were also criticized for being “copies” of stunts that the original line-up pulled off, with one challenge seeing Matt and Chris go head-to-head in three wheel cars on a drive to Blackpool, which Clarkson and co. did in 2010.

Meanwhile, Matt also took part in a dune buggy race that the former hosts attempted in 2005.

To be fair though, it’ll probably be hard to find something that the original hosts haven’t already done…

Jeremy, James and Richard are due to launch their own new car show, The Grand Tour, on Amazon Prime later this year.
