Have Chris Evans and Natasha Shishmanian named their twins ‘Ping’ and ‘Pong’?

Chris Evans has left fans confused after he announced the birth of his twins – Ping and Pong.

Evans and his wife Natasha Shishmanian welcomed their newborns late last night after Shishmanian was induced.

The proud parents announced the news in a statement read out live on Evans’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Thursday morning.

“Ping and Pong arrived safe and well last night,” the statement read. “Ping popped her head out at 22.10, Pong popped his head out 12 minutes later at 22 minutes past 10. Both healthy, both strong, happy and blessed, as was mum throughout.

“Infinite thanks to the amazing team at Frimley Park Hospital, amazing people, amazing professionals, helping dreams come true. Thank you.”

Fans were left baffled by the statement with many unable to work out if Ping and Pong are officially the chosen names.

One user tweeted: “Chris Evans named his kids ping and pong. Why? Why would you do that?”

Another posted: “I don’t think Chris Evans has called his twins those names. I think it might be a joke. Thanks.”

A third joked: “Has Chris Evans seriously named his newborn twins Ping and Pong? Surely you can only get away with this if the mother is called Annette!”

Evans gave his unborn children the monikers Ping and Pong as a “working title” while his wife was carrying them.

But he recently joked that they could feature as middle names for the newborn twins.

“It’s so cute I want to keep them as the names Ping and Pong,” he said during a chat with Janet Jackson on his breakfast show.

Asked if he meant nicknames, Evans replied: “Or middle names.”

Evans and Shishmanian have been married for 11 years. They have sons Noah, nine, and Eli, six. Evans also has 30-year-old daughter Jade from a previous relationship.
