Chris Martin Confesses He Lost Dance Off To Beyoncé And Bruno Mars Before Even Taking Part

Being asked to beat Beyoncé at dancing is a losing proposition for most men.

Chris Martin was wise enough to refuse to try when the singer challenged him to a dance-off on stage during Coldplay’s Super Bowl 50 performance.

The group performed alongside Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson last month for the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl, below.

And Bruno was also insistent Martin have a go at dancing in front of millions.

The Coldplay frontman said about bowing out: “Bruno wanted us to do that. He said, ‘We’ll have a dance-off’ – and I came last.”

He told the anecdote on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, and the chat show host replied: “If Bruno Mars or Beyoncé ever challenges you to a dance-off, you walk away. You run as fast as you can.”

Martin said his plan was for all the musicians on stage to “show a picture of togetherness in this time of everyone being so divided” – but Mars interpreted that to mean they should have a dance competition.

The Coldplay singer also joked he and the band were too off their faces on drugs to remember the performance and joked that banners held up by the crowd reading ‘Believe In Love’ – above – spelt out ‘Drink Budweiser’ once they were flipped around.
