Dream Street star Chris Trousdale has died aged 34 from coronavirus complications.

The performer, who was best known for his work with early 2000s boyband Dream Street, died on Tuesday (2 June) at a hospital in Burbank, California, due to Covid-19-related health issues, a family member confirmed to TMZ.

The five-piece, consisting of Trousdale, Jesse McCartney, Greg Raposo, Matt Ballinger and Frankie Galasso, were formed when Trousdale was no more than 14 years old in 1999, with Dream Street performing together for three years before disbandiing.

Former child star Trousdale was scouted for the band from the world of theatre, having appeared in Broadway productions of Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz from a young age.

In recent years, Trousdale had made a guest appearance on Lucifer and released his last solo single, “Summer”, in 2019.

“Although it felt like he belonged to us all, the family is requesting that you respect their privacy at this time of grieving. Should you wish to make a donation in his honor, please give to ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).”

Trousdale’s death was honoured by former bandmate McCartney, who wrote on Instagram: “It pains me to say that an old friend, Chris Trousdale, from my early days in the music industry has passed away due to complications from Covid-19.

He continued: “Chris, in my opinion, was the most popular among us, who had a way of drawing every eye to what he was doing on stage. As an incredibly trained dancer, he would pick up an entire dance number in a matter of minutes; something that would take the rest of us days... My deepest sympathies go out to his mother whom I know cherished him dearly. RIP Chris. I’ll never forget your smile.”
