Christian Eriksen has taken his game to another level for Tottenham this season, and even shouldered the goalscoring burden in the absence of Harry Kane against Swansea on Saturday.

The Dane has been so impressive this season that his national manager, Age Hareide, rates him among the best in the world.

The Spurs playmaker has 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions so far this season, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side press for the top four once more and a first major trophy under the Argentine.

Ahead of the World Cup this summer, the Danish boss thinks Eriksen's quality exceeds the best at Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I think he is a type that can adapt to anything," Hareide told Ritzau.

"Give him a ball, then the ball will speak for him wherever he is.

“Christian is a type that just gets better from dealing with better football players.

"When looking at the players that play centrally for Real Madrid and Barcelona, none of them are better than Christian.

"Luka Modric came from Tottenham to Real Madrid, and he was not as good as Christian."
