Christiano Ronaldo has addressed the rape accusation against him ahead of Juventus’s Champions League clash with Manchester United, saying “the truth always comes in the first position”.

The football star spoke to press on Monday evening, the night before the Champions League match, and said he is “blessed”.

Ronaldo insisted the allegations against him are forming no distraction for the match.

He said: “I'm happy man. We did the statement two weeks ago.

"Of course I'm not going to lie on this situation. My lawyers are confident and of course I am too. The most important thing is that I enjoy football and enjoy life. I have people who take care of my life. The truth always come in the first position."

He added: "I know I am an example, 100 per cent, in the pitch and outside the pitch. I always smile. I'm blessed. I play at a fantastic club, I have a fantastic family, I'm healthy. I have everything. The rest does not affect on me."

Ronaldo, 33, has strenuously denied an accusation he sexually assaulted a woman in the United States in 2009.

The former Real Madrid striker, who has more than 150 caps for Portugal, also spoke about Sir Alex Ferguson and Real Madrid at the press conference.
