The Circle delivers catfish twist in dramatic episode

This evening's (September 20) episode of The Circle may have put an end to last night's dramatic cliffhanger, but the arrival of a new player shook things up even more.

With Jennifer blocked from the Circle, tonight offered the first instance in which any of the participants met each other face-to-face. As the nation bit a collective fingernail, Genelle's door was finally chosen by the 'cancer doctor' who fooled everyone with her false story.

Upon mingling with each other, Jennifer and Genelle's immediate spark warmed the hearts of viewers posting on Twitter, with many people thinking they'd make fantastic friends in the real world.

Genelle admitted: "I'm so gutted that you're gone, but I'm so happy that you chose me."

Further in to the episode, with Jennifer blocked and removed from the Circle, it was time to introduce a fresh participant.

'Christopher', or Sinead as she's known in the real world, is a Welsh carer for the elderly, so to add a little authenticity to her time on the show, she's playing a 65-year-old grandad.

Not only that, but she's also using genuine photographs of her own grandad to sweeten the image.

Viewers found this is all very amusing.

However, Dan is already close to foiling Christopher's fictional personality, deeming the profile picture used as very "stock photo"-styled.

The Circle continues tomorrow night (September 21) on Channel 4 at 10pm.
