The first series of The Circle saw Alex Hobern, who pretended to be a woman named "Kate", take £75,000 in prize money – but it was a close victory.

The Circle Uncovered, which aired on Tuesday night (October 16), revealed the contestants' final ratings worth £50,000, and Freddie Bentley came close to pipping him at the post.

There was only one point between Alex/Kate and Freddie – with Alex/Kate earning a Circle rating of 9 (average of 3.00), including 5 stars from Dan Mosaku, and Freddie in second place with 8 (average of 2.67).

You can see how the finalists rated each other below:

Alex/Kate and Freddie both took the approach of scoring their rivals low, which helped to elevate their final positions.

When giving Kate five stars, Dan had said: "From the very first day that I had a conversation with her, I feel like our relationship has grown, and I've become more and more fond of this person – just as a result of who they are and what they say and how they talk and how they communicate.

"Yeah, I think she's an absolute diamond, and she is well deserving of the five stars."

"Oh my days," Alex said, watching the footage back. "Shit... that's why I won. It's because of Dan. No wonder he was so angry at the meet after that."

Dan came second with 24.72%. Sian Owen and Freddie took 12.95% and 12.27% respectively.

The Circle airs on Channel 4.
