A Birmingham dad-of-two is still fighting for his life after doctors were unable to fully treat a bleed on his brain after a freak accident on holiday in Turkey, meaning further costs for his 'distraught' family. Marlon McCormack, 51, was rushed to hospital yesterday (April 25) when he woke up with 'no feeling on one side of his body' after a fall at a resort gym.

The forklift operator from Chelmsley Wood was placed in an induced coma as his family plead for donations to help fund his £24,000 medical bill. The family's GoFundMe page has already raised over £10,000 - but Marlon's devastated fiancée said she expected costs to rise further after a surgeon was unable to remove all the blood from his brain during surgery yesterday.

Fiancee Anna Ryan, 41, said she was 'so thankful' for the public's support, but issued an urgent plea for further donations. The couple, and Marlon's two children, arrived in Alanya, Turkey, only two days ago (April 24) on a 'last-minute' getaway. They do not have travel insurance.

Anna Ryan has already paid over £3,000 towards Marlon's medical bills. Marlon was operated on yesterday, but is still in a 'critical condition.' "The operation hasn't gone too well," Anna told BirminghamLive. "They haven't been able to remove all the blood from his brain.

"The doctor said it was too dangerous to remove all of it straight away. His blood pressure has also dropped so he's being kept in a coma. From what I can understand, he's got an infection as well."

Hundreds of people have so far donated to the family's fundraiser, leaving messages of support to the family. 'Get well soon soldier I'm praying for you,' wrote Mark Ward.

'Having had a fall only last night whilst on holiday I really feel for you," said Neil Phillips, "I was very lucky and ended up with stitches only but I would like to think there would have been someone there for me too."

Anna Ryan continued: "We're so thankful for the support so far - I don't know what I would have done without this help. But we still need as much help as we can get. I'm paying £1,500 for every day he is in intensive care.

"We don't know how much all the medical bills will cost in the long run - but we know he needs to be here for at least four weeks after the surgery to recover."
