Clapham chemical attack suspect Abdul Ezedi shown in new CCTV of last known sighting in London

Detectives hunting the Clapham chemical attacker have issued new footage of him near the Thames as the manhunt continues.

Scotland Yard is using officers from the counter terrorism team in the search for Abdul Ezedi who is suspected of hurling a noxious substance in the face of a mother with her two children.

The woman is still in hospital with serious injuries after the incident on Wednesday evening.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 5 February on suspicion of assisting an offender. He was taken into custody and later released on bail pending further enquiries.

In the new images released on Tuesday Ezedi is shown turning left onto Upper Thames Street, passing the City of London School on St Paul's Walk and heading towards Blackfriars Bridge.

In the last sighting, the suspect originally from Afghanistan but granted asylum in the UK, passes the Unilever building near Blackfriars and heads towards Victoria Embankment at 10.04pm on Wednesday. This is shown in the footage above.

He had fled the scene in Clapham on foot after crashing his car. He was then caught on CCTV at a Tesco in Caledonian Road in north London before jumping on a Tube at nearby King's Cross and reappearing at Tower Hill station then on the banks of the Thames.

Commander Jon Savell said: “Our teams have been working tirelessly through the night and into today to pinpoint Ezedi’s latest movements and we are now able to release the latest images and footage of him.

“We continue to appeal for information about Ezedi’s whereabouts. It remains our belief that he is being helped by others and yesterday we arrested a man for assisting an offender. Our enquiries continue to target more of Ezedi’s associates.

“A £20,000 reward remains on offer for anyone who has information leading to his arrest.”
