Cleaning expert shares 'powerful' mix to make white clothes look 'brighter' than ever

Stains seem to be more attracted to white laundry, especially your t-shirts and socks. Knowing how to wash white clothes without bleach is crucial for removing common sweat, dirt, food, or drink stains.

White and brightly coloured fabrics can become yellowed, dingy, or dull over time without a clear cause. Even with proper washing techniques to prevent dark fabric dyes from bleeding onto others, some discolouration is almost inevitable.

Instead of resorting to harsh chemicals or optical brighteners, there are alternative ingredients and methods you can use to restore your whites. Chantel Mila Ibbotson, known as @mama_mila_au on her Instagram page, has shared a three-ingredient "powerful" blend to make your whites look "brighter" than ever before.

Her video was captioned: "How to make your white clothes look new again. Say goodbye to dingy white clothes."

She believes that this simple method brightens and whitens your garments, making it ideal for socks, t-shirts, and linens. The video begins with Chantel showing the camera a stained white T-shirt before placing it in a bowl and pouring warm water over it until it's completely submerged, reports the Express.

In her mix to brighten and disinfect clothes, she added a quarter of a cup of hydrogen peroxide, a cup of baking soda to deodorise and brighten, along with a teaspoon of dish soap.

Chantel claimed: "This powerful mix lifts stains and makes your whites look brighter."

Dependent on the stain, the dish soap could be omitted, as it's only required for removal of oil-based stains. Following this, Chantel allowed the clothing item to soak prior to its usual wash cycle in the machine.

Her followers took to the comments section on Instagram, questioning how long the soaking period should be.

Instagram user @blasian86 queried: "How long to soak for? " To which Chantel responded: "Usually an hour or two."
