Hunniford told The Sun: “The strain on him has been almost unbearable.

“It’s that constant pressure of the last thing he thinks of at night and the first thing he thinks of in the morning, and the sheer frustration of seemingly nothing being done.

“He can think and talk about nothing else. The toll on him has been enormous.”

Earlier this week police sent a file to prosecutors to decide whether Richard, above in his pomp, will be charged over historic sex allegations over an incident in the early 1980s.

Hunniford also opened up about her friend during an appearance on Loose Women and said Cliff was “imprisoned” by the accusations against him.
