Clydebank tourist missing in Poland makes contact with family after week long search

A Clydebank tourist who was reported missing in Poland has been traced after a week-long search.

The alarm was raised by his worried family after Sam Kennedy, 20, was last seen at his hotel in Krakow on June 28.

Last week Sam's family launched a public appeal to find him, sparking a multi-nation search after he failed to board his flight home to Glasgow.

Police in Poland confirmed with the Record that the young man has since been traced.

Sister Robyn Kennedy shared the news and said: "Sam has contacted us and we now know he is safe and well.

"The police are now happy to close the inquiry. Thank you everybody who put time and effort into helping us find him. We would appreciate some privacy as a family now. Thank you."

A spokesperson for the Polish National Police said: "The Police have not received a report regarding the missing person.

"The Interpol Office in Great Britain has asked to check the whereabouts of the person.

"Based on the activities carried out, it was determined that the indicated person had left Poland, of which the British side was informed."

Police Scotland has also been approached for comment.
