Coastguard helicopter incident at Cornwall harbour
A Coastguard helicopter was seen by many flying over Cornwall today amid reports that someone had got into difficulty in the water.
Just before midday, coastguard officials received reports someone was in trouble in the Falmouth harbour area. The Coastguard Rescue Team from Falmouth was sent, assisted by the RNLI lifeboat and the search and rescue helicopter from Newquay. Police also assisted on water.

The Harbourmaster was informed and local vessels were asked to keep a sharp look out and report anything unusual to Falmouth Coastguard. The area was thoroughly searched but nothing untoward was found.
A spokesperson for the Coastguard said: "Just before midday today (2 May), HM Coastguard received a report that someone may be in difficulty in the Falmouth harbour area. The Coastguard Rescue Team from Falmouth was sent, together with the RNLI lifeboat and the search and rescue helicopter from Newquay. Police RIB Sabre also assisted.
"The Harbourmaster was informed and local vessels were asked to keep a sharp look out and report anything unusual to Falmouth Coastguard. The area was thoroughly searched and nothing untoward has been found."
