One of Cornwall's most popular burger joints has announced the opening of its sister restaurant with a twist. HERD in Newquay has launched a new American-Italian inspired restaurant, bar and golf course, which officially opened its doors on Tuesday.

Rosa, located at 11 Tower Road at the former Gilmore's site, offers "'no-fuss' plates, innovative wines, quality beers, and proper cocktails either in a cosy indoor space, or outside on the terrace." As is the case with HERD, Rosa also prides itself on using Cornish ingredients, and makes everything in-house.

The spring/summer menu offers a range of classic pizzas, pastas, fries and vegan dishes. According to the team, Rosa isn't "by any means an authentic Italian restaurant but [they've] taken great pleasure in adding some Americanised takes on the genre, and made them completely [their] own."

It also promises a "super fun cocktail menu", wines you won’t find anywhere in Newquay, a new beer garden, and a completely renovated mini golf course. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings, unless it's for a group of eight or more, so it currently operates on a walk-in basis.

Rosa is the brainchild of the owners behind HERD, which opened on Fore Street in Newquay in early 2023 and quickly became one of Cornwall’s favourite foodie hotspots. It boasts a tasty menu of cheeseburgers, fries, milkshakes and soft serve ice-cream and those behind it say its "big on flavour and simplicity".

HERD was named as a finalist in the tenth annual National Burger Awards earlier this year. Just sixteen burgers from across the UK, including the HERD Burger, made it to the final of the 2024 awards. It has also made it to the regional finals of the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024, which will announce the winners on May 2.
