Warning drivers could face huge fine if a wasp enters their car

Brits have been warned they could be fined a significant amount of cash if a wasp gets into their car on the road. Higher temperatures mean more bugs, flies, and other insects will be crawling a flying about all over the country.

While you can usually shoo them away, extra care needs to be taken while you're behind the wheel. And if not, you could end up being hit with a big fine.

Experts at Motor Match have warned that driving while being distracted by a wasp while driving could ultimately lead to nine penalty points and a fine of up to £2,500 as a result of careless driving in extreme circumstances. However, the punishment could be even more severe if someone is hurt as a result of the distraction.

Motor Match warns: "Even to people who don’t mind wasps, the sudden appearance of one could be quite alarming. When in the enclosed space of a car, it's understandable that they could prove to be a distraction to the driver.

“Nevertheless, it's crucial that we stay as calm as possible and don’t let wasps or other insects distract us from driving safely” Brits are instead advised to keep their car clean, neat, and without any food or drink containers.

This is because wasps are generally attracted to food and rubbish which makes them more likely to give you a shock while driving. In the rare event a wasp makes its way into your car while driving, motorists are being advised to stay calm.

Not only will staying calm help you keep control of the vehicle, but it may also prevent the wasp from stinging you and becoming a much bigger problem. Motor Match adds: "If you encounter a wasp flying around your vehicle whilst driving, remember to remain calm. The calmer you are, the less likely the wasp is to sting you.

"Be sure to wind down your windows to give the wasp an opportunity to escape. Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.”
