Coldplay have surprised fans with a major announcement a week before they take to the stage at Glastonbury festival.

The band, fronted by singer Chris Martin, revealed earlier this month that in October, they will release a new album called Moon Music. But today, Friday, June 21, Coldplay shared their first single from the album titled feels like I'm falling in love.

On the track, Chris sings: "Oh, it feels like I'm fallin' in love/Maybe for the first time/ Baby, it's my mind you blow." The tune was produced by Swedish studio wizard Max Martin - who is best known for his work with the likes of Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd and produced their last album.

Fans heading to Glastonbury this year can expect the band to sing it for the first time live when they headline the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night. This year, Coldplay will become the first act to headline the Pyramid stage five times.

The eco-conscious rock band are releasing the record on vinyl made from recycled plastic bottles. A special copy boasts 70 per cent river plastic, taken from the Rio Las Vacas in Guatemala, with the 'Yellow' hitmakers claiming that will reduce the record's carbon footprint by 85 per cent.

It comes after Coldplay recently thanked fans after they were able to cut their tour emissions by 47% so far amid their 'Music of the Spheres World Tour', compared to their 2016 and 2017 jaunt. The group had previously vowed not to tour again until they could reduce their footprint.

Coldplay said: “This is a good start – and something that our incredible crew should be very proud of – but clearly there’s still room for improvement.

“The emissions data from the first 12 months of the tour has now been collated, assessed and independently validated by Prof. John E. Fernandez of the MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative. On a show-by-show comparison, the Music Of The Spheres Tour has so far produced 47% less CO2e emissions than our last stadium tour (2016-17).”
