Coleen Nolan defends Shania Twain's Glastonbury set as she spots telling sign she was suffering

Coleen Nolan has highlighted the obvious struggles that country sensation Shania Twain faced during her Glastonbury Festival 2024 performance.

The renowned singer made her first appearance at Worthy Farm on Sunday afternoon, opening her act to a sea of fans with the classic tune "That Don't Impress Me Much".

Yet, viewers tuning in from home felt let down as she stepped onto the stage, the Mirror reports.

Complaints about the sound quality flooded in, with calls for festival organisers to address the audio issues that seemed to affect numerous performers throughout the event.

Discussing the festival on Loose Women, Coleen, aged 59 and a seasoned performer with The Nolans, commented on Shania's performance: "I was watching Shania thinking she is having major issues as she was constantly pulling the ear piece out and putting it back in.

"Straight away, I thought: 'She can't hear! ' I could tell she couldn't hear, as she wasn't in tune on some of it. But again, I thought, at least she's proving that it's live! "

She added: "The problem nowadays is it can also end your career as people are so quick to judge. I always think that the sound can actually, could potentially, kill someone's career."

This comes as numerous Glastonbury spectators voiced their displeasure on Twitter, now X, following Sunday's show.

One onlooker commented: "This isn't impressing me much. #Glastonbury" while a separate account remarked: "C'mon #Glastonbury sort the sound out for #Shania. She's a trooper so she's keeping on keeping on, but she deserves better than this! "

Another typed out: "Shania Twain and Cyndi Lauper both thrown under the bus by the Glastonbury sound engineers. Looks like neither of them could hear themselves so we're out of time. Also the sound mix is generally dreadful."

In another comment, a different fan stated: "Stepping in to defend Shania Twain She can really sing live, as someone who stood this close to her. Something is just not working for her here..."

Another person vented: "What the hell is going on with the sound at Glastonbury this year? They've done Shania Twain dirty here #painful".

Someone else echoed: "People need to understand how live music works. Shania Twain was clearly having in ear issues for the first couple of songs.

"Fingers in ears and on the battery pack constantly. Third song it got sorted and she was in tune and in time. But nope judgements have already been made".
