Comic Con North East returns this weekend - with appearances from Craig Charles and Warwick Davis

Comic Con North East returns to Newcastle this weekend, with thousands of superhero and sci-fi fans set to grace the Utilita Arena weekender once again. Dubbed 'the best place to celebrate all things pop culture', fans will be able to meet their favourite characters, converse with like-minded people, and meet some of the biggest stars in entertainment.

Many guests also appear live on stage, filling fans in on their new projects and previous roles - before heading to meet and greets to pose for pictures and autograph memorabilia. Explore, fabulous props and set builds, watch cosplayers in all their glory, play modern and retro video games with the best of the best, and buy unique gifts at the trader and artist area.

On their site, Comic Con North East, write: "The shared fandoms and sense of community is central to everything we do. Fans from all over the North East come together every year to share their love of comics, fantasy, sci-fi, gaming, horror and cosplay.

There's also an after party come Saturday, April 13 at Louie's Liquor Store from 7pm onwards - where Red Dwarf and Robot Wars star Craig Charles will perform a Funk and Soul DJ set, among other live DJs spinning pop culture anthems, a cosplay catwalk, Comic Con themed cocktails and much more.
