Cleaning your air fryer can become a chore, as it often requires scrubbing after every use to wash away the greasy stains. Like any kitchen appliance, it's important to maintain regular cleaning to ensure your air fryer lasts longer and for obvious hygiene reasons.

But as many find it an inconvenience to scrub their air fryers to get them spotless, there is a common kitchen item that can be used instead to wash away residue - and it requires little to no effort.

A dishwasher tablet can be used as a quick and easy method to clean your air fryer in just minutes 'without scrubbing'. This simple hack was surfaced on the Mrs Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page when Ruth Hankey asked if dishwasher tablets could be the solution to dirty air fryer baskets.

Her post read: "Has anyone put a dishwasher tablet in their air fryer baskets, and left it to soak? Does the hack actually work?," reports the Express.

Members of the group confirmed that this trick does indeed work, with speedy air fryer cleaning in just 'five minutes'. Sharing her own experience, Charlotte Robinson said: "I do it all the time with hot water, leave to soak and wash next morning."

Michelle McKenzie chimed in: "I have and yes it does work. It's also good for lots of burnt-on food. Add a dishwasher tablet to the basket. Five minutes without scrubbing required."

Also backing up this handy tip was Jacqueline Mackie, who said: "I use a dishwater tablet in it with boiled water. Pour out after five minutes before giving it a rinse."

Dishwasher tablets can tackle the most challenging food and grease stains, which is why they're also effective on air fryers. Compact and powerful, these tablets are a game-changer for tough-to-shift scuffs and even for sprucing up drains, all without using a variety of cleaning products.

However, some Mrs Hinch's fans also had alternative suggestions for Ruth, with some advocating for the simplicity of washing-up liquid. Rebecca Bacon suggested: "You don't need to. Just soak in Fairy Liquid [washing up liquid] after use then rinse."

Louise Bishop offered her method: "They're non-stick so after every use, use a bit of washing up liquid and hot water. Leave to soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour out and rinse with water."

Amanda Elizabeth chimed in with her quick fix: "Just wash with washing up liquid and hot water in the sink. It's clean within seconds using a sponge and no faffing around, same with silicone liners."
