Agents in the sale of Ayr Ice Rink have moved to clear up the confusion surrounding reports that the site has been placed ‘under offer.’

Real Estate consultants Ryden revealed that a glitch last week to a computer software upgrade incorrectly placed the site as being at ‘under offer’ status on their website. Today, a spokesperson confirmed that the dormant site is still at ‘for sale’ status, although “various parties” have shown an interest in taking on the site.

A Ryden spokesperson said: “We’re having discussions with various parties about the rink but it’s difficult to put a timescale on the conclusion of a sale.”

The rink has been lying dormant since it went on the market back in late September. In August last year, Ayrshire Live told how investors, headed up by Glasgow Ice Centre, submitted a “substantially revised offer” to take control at the popular venue in Limekiln Road.

The Glasgow-based charity organisation’s offer was in partnership with Scottish Curling, Kyle Figure Skating Club, Ayr Figure Skating Club and Ayr Bruins Junior Ice Hockey Club. The offers were part of a wider plan to try to secure an all-ice sports facility in Ayr for generations to come.

However, that deal fell by the wayside and the rink closed to the public in September, ending a near 50-year association of providing ice sports facilities for the town.
