This Cone Bears An Unusual Resemblance To The Queen

Bow down to this smashed cone and deliver a full-bodied rendition of God Save the Queen.

It bears an unusual resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II – and was spotted in Derby by Paul Smith – who stopped to take a picture of the remarkable sight.

Paul, 34, a newspaper coordinator, was walking past Landau Forte College on August 20 when he spotted the unusual sight.

‘I just noticed it and made a passing comment to my friend about the way it looked’, he recalled.

‘When I saw it, I thought that it looks kind of like the Queen’s head. It was all very interesting.

‘I put my photos on Facebook and people were saying it was great on there.

‘It was fascinating. I find these sort of things really interesting and bizarre.’

And after photos of the cone were posted on Facebook, Paul discovered that the piece was discovered by art student Liam Boddington who lost it two years ago.

Liam, 21, lost the piece after leaving Landau College for University in September 2013 – and is now trying to get it back.

He said: ‘When I left Landau, I totally forgot about it and then my friend sent me a picture of it. It was so weird.

‘I’m glad someone else remembers that I made it, so it proves I’m not going mad.

‘I assumed the school would have thrown it away but I’m guessing one of the cleaners will have taken it outside and used it.

Explaining how he originally made the piece, Liam added: ‘I remember I drew the shape out on the cone and used a scalpel to carve the shape out but the plastic was so thin it was difficult and kept breaking.

‘It took me a few attempts to make it.’
