Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron is set to decide his future next week, with offers from Serie A, England and Rangers on the table.

Currently on holiday, the 21-year-old is considering his options which includes an offer from Serie A team Hellas Verona. He is also awaiting confirmation of interest from Bologna following their recent managerial change.

Welsh duo Swansea City and Cardiff City, Wayne Rooney's Plymouth and Stoke City have also made proposals, reports the Daily Record.

With his Aberdeen contract due to expire, Barron could move outside Scotland for just over £500,000 in training compensation. Rangers have also made a strong offer to the player but they would also need to agree a fee with Aberdeen or risk going to a tribunal.

Manager Philippe Clement is eager to bolster his Scottish contingent, particularly for European competition next season. The likes of Scott Wright and Ryan Jack have previously moved from Aberdeen to Rangers, much to the chagrin of the Red Army.

Barron will base his decision on playing time, team fit, and where he believes he can thrive. He is eager to progress and earn a place in the Scotland squad, which is a significant motivator before financial considerations come into play.

His Scotland Under-21 teammate Josh Doig transferred from Hibs to Verona before moving to Sassuolo earlier this season, while his former Dons pal Lewis Ferguson also swapped Pittodrie for Italy moving to Bologna in 2022.

Interest from Cagliari has now ended after Claudio Ranieri stepped down, while rivals Sassuolo were also keen but have been relegated to Serie B.
