Construction concludes on £10m Aberdeen Wickes store

Knight Property Group has completed building works for a new £10m Wickes store in Aberdeen.

The site at Kingshill Park in Westhill has been handed over to the home improvement retailer, which is now managing the fit-out process, ahead of opening in August.

The 25,000 sq ft store, with 79 car parking spaces and an outdoor projects centre, was built by Clark Contracts.

When open, the store should bring around 25 new jobs to the local economy.

Wickes joins the likes of Starbucks, McDonalds, Screwfix and Toolstation at the business park.

Sarah Taitt, chief property and services officer at Wickes, said: “As well as providing work opportunities for the local area, we look forward to offering residents of Aberdeen access to a wide range of home improvement products, services, and expert advice from our knowledgeable staff.”

Wickes opened its first site in Whitefield, Manchester, in 1972. It now operates more than 230 stores throughout the UK, with Scottish sites in Dumfries, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling.
