Containment Efforts Continue on Destructive Wildfire in Central Arizona

Crews continued to battle a wildfire in central Arizona on Friday, June 14, that has destroyed at least 15 structures, including seven homes, fire officials said.

Footage posted to X by Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management shows crews tackle the blaze, named the Rose fire, near Wickenburg on Wednesday afternoon.

“Thursday evening’s winds tested the line, but the fire stayed within its containment lines. Fire remains under investigation,” they wrote on the post.

By Friday, the Rose fire burned 166 acres and was 20 percent contained, according to official fire reports. The cause was under investigation. Credit: AZ State Forestry via Storyful

A wolf seemed super keen to get a piece of a bison carcass from a grizzly bear, footage by a nature photographer in Yellowstone National Park shows, but the bear seemed unimpressed by its antics as it bounced around.Trevor LaClair said he filmed the scene in April 2023, when the bear pulled the carcass from a frozen pond.“Two of the wolves approached the grizzly. One of the wolves got too close and the bear lunged at it as a warning. However, the wolf viewed it as an opportunity to potentially lure the bear away and began play bowing and bouncing around,” LaClair wrote on Instagram.“After a while, the grey wolf gave up and laid down nearby, waiting patiently for a piece of meat,” LaClair added.
