Coombe Abbey urges visitors 'don't' as they brace for busy weekend
Coombe Abbey bosses have issued an appeal to visitors ahead of what is set to be a busy weekend. Many are expected to flock to the naturespot during the heatwave this weekend.
But they have urged sun-seekers and walkers not to bring along BBQ's, camping stoves or to start open fires. This is due to previous incidents where damage has been caused and wildlife left hurt.
A post on the Coombe Abbey page on Facebook reads: " Barbecues in the past have damaged grass, paths, rubbish bins, picnic benches, memorial benches, sculptures, and even the bird hide. They have also caused injuries to wildlife."

It goes on to explain: "BBQs can remain hot long after you have eaten and gone home, causing injuries to unsuspecting members of the public Litter is unsightly and is harmful to wildlife. Please pick up your litter and take it home with you if our bins are full.
"Don’t leave bags piled up next to bins as they are often ripped open by birds and other wildlife."
The post concludes: "Please be respectful of our parks and green spaces, clean and tidy up after yourselves so that others can enjoy the park too."
