A Cornish actor has been spotted filming scenes for his latest movie in an ordinarily sleepy village. Kernow King is even inviting members of the public to the set today to feature in part of it if you're in the area.

Far from the busy filming scenes of the likes of Looe and Padstow, the clay country village of Roche, near St Austell, is not your typical filming destination. But the comedian - real name Edward Rowe - has been spotted among a group of around two dozen people working on the suspected clay tip-themed project this week.

The Bait star says he's working on a short film project but has not disclosed the exact name. Today (Wednesday, May 1) crews will be back and are filming a short scene in the area.

Posting to Facebook last week Rowe, who is also from Roche, said: "Yew! We're shooting my short film next week in and around Roche. On May the 1st we're shooting a scene where a crowd would be welcome. Drop the team an email if you're in the area and fancy it! paloreskernewek@gmail.com."

Back in 2021 the actor launched a fundraising page to help get a short film he'd written off the ground. The movie, presented in the Cornish language, is about a man named Enys. He's a young man who lives and works on a farm with his widowed mother and his grandmother and was released in 2022.

Edward said at the time: "I've been learning Cornish for a number of years and have long been a supporter for Cornish to be taught, used, written, sung, rapped, spoken and everything in between! Regardless of where you're from or where you live, once the language gets under your skin, it is truly addictive.

"Place names make sense. It connects you with people and the place. Dialect often comes from language. And speaking Cornish in my homeland is truly magical experience."

Following the success of that short film, Edward announced plans for his next project, Poll Pri, in 2023. Back in October he confirmed the short film, for which the title translates to 'Clay Tip' received some funding and that he'd be working on it soon.
