Weatherfield will also see the return of Bethany Platt, with Lucy Fallon reprising the role. Her first scenes since 2020 are set to air after Christmas.
"I'm so excited," said co-star Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Barlow. "She's such a well-loved human, never mind character.
"Obviously the world love her as Bethany and so do we, but we also love her as Lucy and she is part of our little pretend family, so I can't wait to have her back."
O'Brien also suggested that Damon Hay may reappear in the future, hinting that there may be "unfinished business there".
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
