Coronation Street and Emmerdale pulled from air in ITV schedule shake-up

Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been pulled from the air in an ITV schedule shake-up leaving fans disappointed.

The popular soaps have been rescheduled to accommodate the broadcasters coverage of Euro 2024. They were not broadcast on Friday evening following the Germany v Scotland game - and it seems this is just the beginning of a period of schedule upheaval.

With the football tournament running until July, soap enthusiasts may find their viewing plans disrupted. Further complications arise with the upcoming General Election, which will necessitate additional changes to the existing schedules.

EastEnders is also not exempt from the scheduling chaos, with Wimbledon set to disrupt broadcasts, making it a challenging summer for soap fans, reports the Express. Typically, Emmerdale broadcasts half-hour episodes throughout the week, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.

Coronation Street, meanwhile, usually airs for an hour at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. While ITV has yet to officially comment on the schedule change, the TV guide indicates that Coronation Street will next air today (June 18), having also been pulled from Monday night's schedule.

The same applies to Emmerdale, which is set to return for an hour-long episode on June 18. Both soaps will air on Wednesday (June 19) but not on Thursday (June 20).
