Coronation Street fans to face longer wait for next episode

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street fans will face a longer wait than usual for the show's next episode.

Schedule changes on ITV1 will see Corrie's regular transmission pattern disrupted over the next few days.

Viewers have already seen three hour-long episodes this week, as an extra edition was scheduled in for Tuesday evening (January 2).

There will be no episode on Friday, January 5 as ITV1 has live coverage of the FA Cup match between Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley starting from 7.30pm.

Coronation Street will also be absent from schedules on Monday, January 8 as ITV1 has another FA Cup game scheduled from 7.30pm – Wigan Athletic vs Manchester United.

This means that Corrie's next episode airs in five days' time on Tuesday, January 9 at 8pm on ITV1.

The following episodes air on Wednesday, January 10 and Friday, January 12 as normal.

Emmerdale will also be affected by the changes as its regular episodes on Friday, January 5 and Monday, January 8 air at the earlier time of 7pm rather than 7.30pm.

Ciarán Griffiths, who plays Damon, recently explained: "[Damon is] definitely obsessed with trying to get Sarah back – he's proper smitten. He's clearly been thinking about her every day for the last few months and wants to scratch that itch."

Asked whether Damon is willing to change his ways for Sarah, Ciarán replied: "I think he definitely does want to, but there's always going to be that side of him where he might be tempted to make a quick buck here and there.

"He's still not a pushover, if he has to do something bad to get what he wants he's still got that in him. He's still got that edge to him but he does want to try and prove to Sarah that he can operate on the right side of the law."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
