Coronation Street fans predict return nine years after exit as Steve McDonald 'dumped' by Tim Metcalfe

Coronation Street have predicted a return could be on the cards as Steve McDonald was 'dumped' by his best mate Tim Metcalfe. Fans love the pair thanks to their comedy exchanges but if Sally Metcalfe has her way, they will be no more.

As fans of the ITV soap know, the taxi driver was left gutted when his wife Tracy Barlow left him for his hero - former Weatherfield County footballer Tommy Orpington. Tracy has since left the cobbles for Spain with her new man and Steve has turned to dating apps.

During Wednesday night's (May 1) Corrie, he was seen nervously going on a date with one of his matches. He headed to the pub dressed to impress but was taken aback to discover Carole had brought some friends along too.

One of the women was Aurora, played by former Fame Academy star Pippa Fulton. The signer and actress is best known for her stint on the talent series in 2002 where she appeared alongside future stars like Lemar and David Sneddon before being eliminated in the fourth week.

Tim soon entered the pub ready for his lunch much to Steve's relief and upon spotting Tim, Aurora invited him to sit down. And as Steve kept his friend stuck within his date, Tim's wife Sally Metcalfe then arrived and saw her husband laughing and joking with the slightly tipsy women.

Utterly humiliated, Sally forced Tim to return home where she reminded Tim that he’s a married man and if he continued hanging out with Steve while he went on dates, people might start talking. And so later, Tim was left 'breaking up' with Steve much to both of their upset.

Following the scenes, some Corrie fans have wondered if it could open up the door for a return after nine years. @jaymelee1999 asked: "Is Lloyd coming back?" @amandab278 said: "Steve needs Lloyd back asap!!!" @kling12349 predicted Lloyd come back, Tim get jealous, hilarious consequences."

Lloyd Mullaney was played by Craig Charles. He made his first on-screen appearance in June 2005. The character departed in July 2006 before returning the following February, in 2007. Craig then took a temporary break from the show in autumn 2011 to film new episodes of Red Dwarf but after a seven-month absence, Lloyd returned in July 2012.

However, Craig then announced his departure from the show in May 2015. His final scenes aired in September 2015 after Lloyd departed for good after 10 years alongside his pregnant fiancée, Andrea Beckett, played by Hayley Tamaddon, when they left the street together to move to Jersey.
