Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a bit of 'foreshadowing' that could lead to a death in the ITV soap as they shared the same response to Dee-Dee Bailey and Joel Deering's engagement news.

As viewers know, Joel is not to be trusted as he was revealed to be the culprit behind Lauren Bolton's disappearance - and suspected murder. The teen was last seen on the cobbles on February 23 after being sacked from her job at Roy's Rolls by Roy Cropper.

The café owner was seemingly the last person to see her alive after he visited her with her wages and some extra cash to tide her over. But what only viewers know is that she was visited at home by a mystery person, who viewers never got to see, and hasn't been seen since.

Roy found himself being charged with Lauren's murder after blood was found in the flat he misguidedly cleaned as a favour to sub-letter Evelyn Plummer. But, the beloved character has since been released from prison, after facing death himself at the hands of Griff Reynolds.

However, the residents of Weatherfield are still none the wiser that it was Joel who was Lauren's 'secret boyfriend' who had showered her with expensive gifts but also left her shockingly bruised. They now think it was Nathan Curtis following the return of Bethany Platt's groomer as he was charged with Lauren's murder after newcomer Kit Green planted evidence in his van, after catching Sarah Barlow thinking about doing the same.

The duty solicitor ended up being Joel and he had good reason for looking shifty as when he returned to the street, he made a swift exit from Roy's homecoming and was met by Hope Stape who handed him a necklace that she found in his car when cleaning it, which viewers recognised belonged to Lauren. Then, a flashback clip then revealed him to be Lauren's secret 'boyfriend' and him brutally attacking her with a chair leg.

He's since been linked to young sex worker Ellie and during Wednesday night's (June 5) visit to the cobbles, Joel was seen being dropped by Nathan as his solicitor meaning his hold of the case is slipping away.

It hasn't stopped Joel from trying to carry on as normal as he was seen introducing Dee-Dee to his parents for the first time. The meeting didn't go well thanks to Joel's judgmental mother, leading to Dee-Dee upping and leaving before desserts could arrive and after defending his girlfriend, Joel followed suit.

Once back at the flat, he apologised for his mother's behaviour, where he decided to suddenly drop to one knee and propose. However, Dee-Dee gently turned down his proposal as it was too soon. However, later in the episode, Dee-Dee changed her mind after talking to her family and decided to accept Joel's proposal and the pair headed to the Rovers to celebrate.

But Corrie fans think disaster is looming for the pair as during an earlier scene between Joel and Dee-Dee, hit track Murder On The Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor was heard playing in the background and they think it could be some clever 'foreshadowing' by bosses.

@Dee_Cee95x noted: "A Joel scene with ‘Murder on the dancefloor’ playing in the background #Corrie." @cgre said: "Not murder on the dance floor playing in the background. Is that some foreshadowing? #corrie." @CHG3899 added: "Murder on the Dance Floor how fitting #Corrie."

Meanwhile, others had a very similar response to Dee-Dee accepting Joel's proposal. @aaronsharp123 said: "No don't it Dee Dee it will be a disaster." @moominmatty commented: "Don’t do it Dee-Dee!" @wickedchicksrule wrote: "Run Dee Dee Run!!!"

@janmac1958 shared: "Nooo Dee Dee please don't do it." @carolinelphotography echoed: "Don't do it Dee Dee....if Joel wasn't bad enough, his Mother is a nightmare!" @missanselm posted: "Ooh nooo Deedee. I told you run for the hills before it’s too late." @leach.sue added: "Noooo, dont do it Dee Dee!!!"
