Coronation Street spoilers as Roy Cropper in emergency hospital dash

Roy Cropper is set to receive a visit from a mystery person in Coronation Street scenes set to air next week.

The iconic character, who has been a staple on the ITV soap since 1995, has been involved in some of the show's most dramatic storylines over the past 29 years.

Recently, viewers saw Roy spend weeks behind bars after being falsely accused of killing his former employee Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), who disappeared in February and hasn't been seen since.

In scenes set to air next week, Roy leaves the cafe to deliver some homemade soup to Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) but is accosted by a group of thugs who hurl insults at him, causing him to fall to the ground.

Carla Connor (Alison King) rushes to help him, but it's clear he's in pain. After Shona confesses she wasn't actually ill, an upset Roy asks her and Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) to leave.

As Shona recounts the incident to Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher), Roy drifts in and out of consciousness, his visitor remains with him before vanishing. When Roy tells Nina about his unexpected guest, she questions whether he might be hallucinating. But who could he have seen?

Roy has been finding it difficult to adjust to life after prison, following his unjust imprisonment for Lauren's murder.

As fans will recall, the beloved cafe owner was freed from captivity a few weeks ago, but he's been finding it hard to return to his usual routine. Next week, his niece Nina will make it her mission to help him.

Yasmeen Nazir (played by Shelley King) and Shona have offered their support, and the three of them agree to collaborate on a plan to lift Roy's spirits and get him out of his flat.

With Roy finding it difficult to adjust after his time in prison and recent troubles on the street, will he ever find peace in Weatherfield?

Coronation Street is broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
