While Joseph is treated, Chesney can’t help but blame himself, wishing that he’d listened to Gemma in the first place. But the pair are set to be left horrified when doctors offer their bombshell diagnosis that Joseph has been poisoned.
Later, Joseph is discharged, but a child protection officer by the name of Caitlin has questions for Gemma, who’s perturbed when it’s put to her that she may have poisoned the youngster on purpose.
Will Ed’s gambling secret be revealed?
When Granddad Sarge arrives early, Ed is left shocked. And his worries mount when Ronnie suggests that he and his brother will pick up the tab for a big family meal out.
Having already taken out a payday loan, Ed is left secretly scouring the racing pages. And as the Baileys gather in the Bistro, Ed tries surreptitiously watching the racing on his phone, while Sarge needles him about his business acumen. Ed then loses his bet, while Ronnie stumps up for the lunch, telling his sibling that he can pay him half later.
Ed then finds Tony and admits that he can’t pay him because he’s lost all of his money through gambling. But when Ronnie approaches, will Tony do Ed’s bidding and keep quiet about his gambling addiction?
Lauren is accused of theft
After Lauren gives Max a new watch as a present to thank him for all he’s done for her, he worries that she’s spent too much. Lauren makes out that she’s had a promotion at the call centre, but Sabrina later corners her and says that the watch was inappropriate.
Later in the week, Max returns the watch to Lauren, explaining that he can’t accept it as it’s too generous a gift. But a mildly suspicious Shona is listening in on the conversation. Then, £80 is discovered to be missing from the till, all of which results in Shona confronting Lauren and accusing her of stealing the cash to buy the watch. Lauren is then left horrified when Shona suspends her.
Liam’s bullying nightmare
Due to him facing flak at school, Liam tries to pull a sickie on Monday, but Maria is having none of it. But Liam is right to be worried, because when Mrs Cranshaw overhears Liam quizzing Dylan about the vapes, she orders Dylan into her office. Mason, for his part, is left glaring at Liam in the belief that this is all his fault.
Wednesday’s drama then finds George trying to get Liam to open up, as he can see that the lad is being bullied. And later in the day, George will be seen sharing his concerns with Gary.
Asha bigs up Nina
Finally, we have Aadi suggesting that Asha and Nina make more of an effort to get to know each other’s friends.
And by Friday, Nina will be seen assuring Asha that she’s looking forward to attending a lunch that’s been arranged with Isla and her senior colleague Miles. Nina then arrives at Speed Daal just as Asha is bigging her up to Miles and Isla, explaining that she’s a budding fashion designer. What will Nina make of this exaggeration?
Coronation Street airs on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and streams on ITVX.
