But at the group, Peter admits that he’s lost all interest in life and says every day has become a chore. Hearing these words, Carla can’t help but be left heartbroken by the depths of Peter’s despair. But will the Christmas present Carla then chooses for him have the effect she’s hoping for?
Daisy spies a chance to get the Rovers back
Daisy wants Jenny not to give up when it comes to getting hold of Stephen’s journal, as the money she stands to get might help buy the Rovers back. On a visit to the Bistro, Daisy then spots all the Platts’ coats hanging up and, forming a plan, she snatches David’s keys.
What we see next is Daisy letting herself in to No 8 and searching desperately for the journal, only to be forced to leg it upstairs when Audrey returns home. Will she get busted?
While the outcome of this particular cliffhanger isn’t being revealed ahead of transmission, what we can say is that Daisy will accompany Jenny on a visit later in the week to the bank, where they hope to secure a loan. And once back at the Kabin, they explain to Brian and Mary that they have managed to get hold of the cash to get the pub. But Jenny then discovers that Waterfords have received another offer, so they’ll now have to submit a sealed bid.
Ed betrays his family
Ed’s financial pressures are mounting and, by Wednesday, Tony will be seen cornering him and demanding that he pay the money he owes him by tomorrow. Panicked and desperate to flee, Ed then secretly packs a bag and tells Aggie he’s coming to spend Christmas with her in Birmingham.
But as he opens the door, he’s confronted by Tony, who angrily shoulders his way into the house. Aggie then happens to call Ed, but Tony threatens to tell her everything. And when Ed makes a grab for the phone, Tony reacts by punching him to the floor.
In the Bistro, meanwhile, Michael is showing Ronnie a watch he’s bought Ed for Christmas engraved with the message, “For the World’s Best Dad. Our Hero”. But when the family returns home, they find Ed with a cut lip and all the presents gone. Dee-Dee calls the police, and as Craig takes down the details of the “burglary”, Ed says he forgot to lock the back door.
Ryan leaves for Glasgow
Debbie is left surprised when Crystal lets her know that she and Ryan are definitely now moving to Glasgow.
And so, on Wednesday, an emotional Debbie and Carla will both be seen waving Ryan off, while Daisy watches sadly as his taxi exits the Street.
David and Maria go head to head
The atmosphere remains tense at the Platts’, so Lily suggests they introduce a “nice box” like the one they have at school. The aim of the exercise? For everyone to write positive messages about each other and then put them in the box for Audrey to read out. But will Lily get the outcome she’s hoping for?
Away from all this domestic strife, Audrey will also be seen conducting interviews for the manager role at the Salon. But while Maria takes time to explain her vision, David ends up annoying his gran by failing to things seriously. So which candidate will Audrey choose?
