Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has jokingly called out his castmate Andy Whyment saying he's 'changed' as they headed to partake in one of their favourite pastimes - watching Manchester United.

The actors, who are famed for playing Tyrone Dobbs and Kirth Sutherland in the ITV soap, are no stranger to ditching Weatherfield, where Weatherfield Country are the team of choice, and heading to the 'Theatre of Dreams', aka Old Trafford, to watching their beloved football team play.

And Wednesday night (May 15) was no different as they both headed to watch the Reds take on Newcastle, with them winning 3 - 2. But while they both regularly head to the ground, Alan has made no secret of enjoying the finer experience and was able to drag Andy along too this time.

Taking to his Instagram Story, the soap star shared a picture of Andy tucking into his tea and said: "I've managed to drag @andywhy36 to hospitality!!" revealing it was 'steak night'. Andy then reshared the post with a string of crying laughing emojis.

But the Corrie legend remained quiet when Alan called him out when the final whistle had blown. He shared a follow-up post of the United players walking around the pitch alongside which Alan wrote: "here til the very end, like a true fan!!!" He then posted a picture of an empty chair and remarked: "@andywhy39 where are you??"

It comes after Alan shared the 'reality' with good pal Andy as he marked his special occasion. Alan dubbed Andy his 'brother' last month as he publically celebrated his birthday. He was among his long-time co-stars sharing their birthday wishes to the birthday boy on social media.

Sharing a beaming snap of the pair to his Instagram Story, Alan said: "Happy Birthday to my big brother. Have a top day @andywhy36. Love ya!" But Alan wasn't keen on being all sweetness and light as he also took a like dig at his friend by posting photos from another appearance at Old Trafford for a Manchester United game.

Alan could be seen sporting a branded lanyard around his neck as he sipped on a glass of red wine. Andy was watching from the side with a bottle of beer in hand as it's not uncommon for the pair to be seen watching the footie together. He'd added a 'Birthday Boy' crown to his co-star's head before imploring fans to 'click here for reality'. The next slide showed the same picture but this time, Andy was flicking the V's at Alan. "He loves me really!" he said with his own winking emoticon.
