Yahoo News Coronation Street star Paula Wilcox on Elaine's terror as she catches out Stephen

Coronation Street star Paula Wilcox has shared more details of the dramatic scenes ahead as her character Elaine Jones realises what Stephen Reid is capable of.
Elaine uncovers some of Stephen's lies and deception next week as she teams up with her son Tim to do some digging.
In the early part of the week, Elaine confides in Stephen's mum Audrey Roberts about how she's doubting their relationship for the first time.
This follows the recent moment when Elaine spotted Stephen childishly pulling faces behind her back.

Paula told Digital Spy and other press: "Elaine is starting to see a little bit of the unpleasant side of Stephen – and I think she's starting to stand up for herself a bit. Audrey is very kind to her, because Stephen has told Audrey that Elaine is suffering from depression.
"So Audrey very kindly offers Elaine some advice on how to deal with that and insists on coming round to the flat. Elaine is pushed into this intimate situation with Audrey.
"Audrey explains to Elaine about depression and how it can fool you into thinking things about people that aren't true. It just comes out – Elaine spills the beans because of the situation as much as anything."

Stephen later begs Elaine for another chance and suggests a romantic trip to the Peak District.
The evil killer is hoping this can be his moment to stage an unfortunate "accident", then cash in the life insurance policy he has fraudulently taken out for Elaine.
Paula continued: "Elaine is very sceptical. Actually at this point she really is starting to think: 'Is this really going anywhere or is he a complete time waster?'
"She agrees to the trip, but I don't think her heart's in it. It's a nice, romantic idea, but she's heard so many romantic ideas by now and they've never come to anything. So I'm not sure she's convinced."

The pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place for Elaine when she finds the Platt family looking through some old photos. In one of the pictures, Elaine recognises Stephen's ex-wife Gabrielle as a woman he was recently talking to on Zoom.
Elaine and Tim then go through Stephen's belongings and are horrified to discover the forged life insurance documents.
Paula said: "Elaine happens to see a photograph when she's sitting with Gail, and it's a photo of Stephen's ex-wife. Elaine realises a few days before, she'd seen this woman's face on Stephen's computer because he was on a Zoom call with her and claimed that she was a business associate.
"But Elaine did get a good look at this woman and seeing a photo of Gabrielle, she realises it's the same woman. I think that's really frightening. It's like all the things Tim has said – and the thoughts, the confusions she's felt – has proved positive.
"Elaine thinks that Stephen is a liar, he's a cheat, and he does it so well. Her reaction is horror, shock and deep, deep sadness. She goes into a tailspin at that point and from then on, she really is seeing the light. It's really a moment like that – that's it."
