George first arrived on the cobbles in September 2020 after the death of his father Archie.

George is currently dating fan-favourite Eileen Grimshaw, whose actress Sue Cleaver recently took a leave of absence from the show following what she described as a "rubbish" year.

Cleaver has promised Eileen will return to screens soon. The actress is currently touring with Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior.

She's recently spoken out about her hopes that George and Eileen might soon tie the knot.

George also found himself embroiled in Corrie's bullying storyline, supporting Liam Connor after witnessing him being the victim of nasty behaviour from Mason Radcliffe.

After Mason threatened Liam with a zombie knife last year, fellow bully Dylan Wilson grassed Mason up to the police, who now faces a custodial sentence. However, it's been revealed that the show will explore the bullying aftermath for an entire year.

Antony Cotton, who plays Sean Tully, told Good Morning Britain in February: "This is only the beginning, we're telling a story about knife crime, that's where it's gonna go."

He also alluded to the recent change in the law banning zombie-style knives and machetes, saying that the show would partially reflect that update.

"Corrie is not real life but it's supposed to hold a mirror up, so it's been really satisfying and this is only the beginning of it," he added.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
