Coronation Street and Strictly Come Dancing stars' reality talent show gets surprise response from viewers
Stand Up and Deliver aired its first episode tonight (February 25) on Channel 4 as five celebrities prepared for a stand-up comedy gig in support of Stand Up To Cancer.
Each celebrity was assigned a comedian as a mentor, and former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn was paired up with Zoe Lyons, Love Island's Curtis Pritchard was assigned to Judi Love and David Baddiel coached former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Rev Richard Coles.
Jason Manford helped Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder and Nick Helm guided Baroness Sayeeda Warsi.

But before a mentor was assigned, each celebrity had to improvise as they were tasked with standing on stage for two minutes with no notice to perform for one another in front of the comedians.
Speaking about her experience, McGlynn admitted that she was nervous because she had no idea what she was doing.
"It's really bizarre that I have to write my own material because I'm so used to just reading somebody else's material if you will. I'm just doing what I can out of that so just to start completely from scratch myself is really daunting," she explained.

Watching #StandUpAndDeliver and quite frankly, Baroness Warsi is an absolute legend. 👏🏻 Also hugely pleased she’s showing people can’t be neatly put in a box just based on their politics.

Just saying #StandUpAndDeliver needs to commissioned for an annual series! It’s a brilliant idea that I would definitely watch. @Channel4 make it happen

I’m loving this show. People think you turn up on stage and make it up as you go along. It takes nights of dying on your arse to hone your act, before you get your set right and years of people saying no. It’s tough, but you flame the nights with laughter 🔥 #standupanddeliver
