‘Coronation Street’ tonight: A tense time ahead for Abi and Gary
There’s another eventful night ahead for Weatherfield residents on Coronation Street tonight.
The episode of the soap, which airs on ITV from 8pm tonight, will see Abi Webster (Sally Carman) and Gary Windass (Mikey North) both struggling to cope with their own harrowing situations.
Gary was left shocked last week when dying Laura Neelan (Kel Allen, who put in a powerhouse performance) told police that she had killed ex-husband Rick (Greg Wood) despite the fact that Gary had just confessed to her himself.

Her motivation? Having Rick declared dead so that their daughter Kelly (Millie Gibson) would inherit his money. Knowing that Gary and his wife Maria (Samia Longchambon) truly care for Kelly and plan to look after her, Laura decided to take the blame - even when it led to Kelly disowning her.
Laura later informed the police where they could find the body, which led to them charging her. But Gary’s guilt is beginning to weigh him down, all too aware that Laura hasn’t got long left to live - and he could put things right by telling the truth.
Meanwhile, Abi has been gearing up to fight for baby son Alfie, whose future is in the hands of the courts thanks to the circumstances surrounding his birth.
After a fling with Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) last year, Abi went into labour a few weeks ago while in the middle of nowhere. High on drugs after a messy breakup with husband Kevin (Michael Le Vell), she had no idea she was even pregnant; and the shock later led her to abandon the little boy at the hospital.

Social services soon warned Abi that she may not be able to keep her baby, and when Imran discovered he was a father he promised to help her win custody.
As the day of the court hearing arrives, Imran's partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) arrives to offer Abi her support, leaving the pair uneasy over their secret. Yes, there's a lot of guilt going around in Weatherfield.
Still, Abi hopes to be given a chance to be Alfie’s mother. When Imran pleads her case, will her efforts to get her life back on track be enough, or will Abi be left devastated once again?
Back to Corrie’s jittery killer now, and Gary can barely contain his shame — it only took him three years to show adequate remorse. In fairness, it was self-defence that caused his showdown with dodgy Rick to turn fatal.

But can he really stand by and let Laura die while labelled as a murderer, and wrongly estranged from her daughter? It seems not, as Gary becomes determined to admit everything to the police. Will Maria be able to talk him out of it, or is it about time he stepped up?
