Coronation Street star Andy Whyment has shared a four-word statement over a very hot topic on the cobbles right now after surprising with an unrecognisable appearance.

The actor, who is famed for playing Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap, has joined the call for Roy Cropper to be freed from jail after the much-loved character, played by David Neilson, was charged with the murder of Lauren Bolton. The teenager has been missing since the end of February and the cafe owner has been DS Lisa Swain's prime suspect since she started investigating the case.

Lauren's disappearance, which was first discovered by her new love interest Bobby, soon became a murder probe and the beloved cafe owner was quickly placed in the frame after he was revealed as the last person to see Lauren alive - and misguidedly deep-cleaned Lauren’s flat after she mysteriously disappeared in a bid to help sub-letter Evelyn Plummer.

After being charged with Lauren's murder, Roy was seen in his cell during Monday night's (April 15) Corrie. He could be seen writing a letter after he was denied bail, with solicitor Dee-Dee eventually delivering it to Nina Lucas as she arrived at the court to discover whether Roy would be allowed home on bail.

In court, the CPS barrister painted Roy as a murderer with a violent past and listed his crimes, including the assault on Gary Windass and the abduction of Wayne. Later, Dee-Dee put forward her client's case and urged the judge to grant Roy bail. However, the judge refused the application and ordered that he be held in custody until his trial and he was seen cuffed and being taken back to his cell in front of his heartbroken family and friends.

Following the scenes, Corrie's social media have been ramping up the 'Free Roy' campaign and some of the soap's stars - including Andy - have been seen sporting T-shirts branded with 'Roy Cropper is Innocent'.

Sharing a snap of him sporting the white tee to his Instagram page, the soap star said: "I’m with you Roy!" to which Corrie quickly replied in the comments section: "Yes Andy!"

It comes after Andy was seen looking almost unrecognisable in a home video captured by his daughter. Taking to Instagram, the 43-year-old appeared to be sporting a pink long-sleeved top under a plunging blue bodysuit and a pair of vibrant blue tights as he danced around his living room.

However, it wasn't what it seemed as he grooved to the Lay Bankz song Tell Ur Girlfriend. Captioning the video, Andy wrote: "When your daughter @holliewhyment10 asks you to dance and you don’t realise she’s added a filter." And his fans and followers were quick to see the funny side.
