Coronation Street's Stephen Reid caught out in lie over murders

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Stephen Reid will be sent into a panic next week when he's caught out over his lies about Leo and Teddy Thompkins's murders.

Stephen's web of lies begins to unravel this week, when Ed and Ronnie Bailey unearth a dead body on their new building site - which is later confirmed to be the body of Leo.

The timing couldn't be worse for Stephen, whose new relationship with Jenny Connor is going from strength to strength after she invites him to move into the Rovers Return with her.

The situation gets even worse for Stephen next week, as Jenny is deeply upset after learning the horrifying news about her ex-fiancé Leo's murder. Jenny wonders whether she should pay Leo's dad Teddy a visit, completely unaware that Teddy is yet another of Stephen's murder victims.

Worried Stephen quickly tries to quash the idea, but Jenny confides in Glenda Shuttleworth that she can't stop worrying about Teddy.

Concerned that he must be grief-stricken after Leo's body was discovered, she admits that it seems odd that he hasn't been in touch with her regarding Leo's funeral.

Later in the week, Jenny calls at the police station and voices her concerns about Teddy to Craig Tinker.

Following this, DS Swain calls to tell Jenny that the police now have proof that neither Leo or Teddy visited Canada, as Stephen claimed after they disappeared.

As Jenny argues that Teddy supposedly contacted Stephen from Canada, Stephen is left inwardly panicking as his lies come back to haunt him.

Has Stephen's huge lie been exposed?

It has already been confirmed that an exit for Stephen is on the cards, with actor Todd Boyce having recently enjoyed a farewell celebration with his castmates.

Fans have the chance to attend a special live event next month to mark the culmination of Stephen's dark storyline, with Todd Boyce himself set to attend to take part in a Q&A session after a screening of a major upcoming episode which will bring Stephen's storyline to a head.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
