Premier League fixtures to be confirmed and Project Restart latest

Tottenham are set to kickstart the opening weekend of the Premier League’s return, with a Friday night six-pointer against Manchester United.

The clash in north London is being lined up for June 19 at 8pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports. The broadcaster is also set to show Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City at 8pm on Wednesday, June 17, and Aston Villa versus Sheffield United at 6pm on the same day — the first top-flight fixture in exactly 100 days.

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side trail his former club by four points in the race for a Champions League place and Spurs were yesterday dealt a blow when they returned the only positive coronavirus result — believed to be a fringe first-team player — from 1,197 tests in the fifth round of testing.

Spurs said the individual would self-isolate for seven days, in line with Premier League guidelines.

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace are set to feature in the first Premier League match to be broadcast on the BBC, with their visit to Bournemouth lined up for Saturday, June 30, at 8pm.

Although the national broadcaster was left with the ninth or 10th pick of fixtures, the game could break record live UK TV Premier League viewing figures, currently set at 4.4million for Sky Sports’ showing of Manchester City’s 1-0 win over United in 2012.
