Corrie's Billy has secret link to Weatherfield resident

Coronation Street's lovable vicar Billy Mayhew may soon discover that he's got a secret link to another resident of Weatherfield.

Last year, Billy (Daniel Brocklebank) came clean to Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) about his shame over hiding the fact that his heroin addict brother Lee had arrived on the cobbles.

Now, Corrie producer Kate Oates has teased that Billy's past might prove to be key to an upcoming storyline that uncovers a Weatherfield connection from his past.

"We have seen his brother," Oates mentioned to What's on TV. "There are clues in his brother as to elements the story might have. What Billy learns is he has greater links with someone else on the street than he ever thought possible."

Oates also dropped a few hints about twists and turns ahead for Billy and Todd following all of that summer drama involving, err, well, Summer.

"Todd always thought that he was the ne'er do well, and it turns out he might not be," the producer hinted.

This new storyline for Billy Mayhew is expected to play out on the ITV soap throughout the autumn.

Coronation Street continues to air on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
