Yahoo News Corrie's Claire King: "People think I'm a bitch"
Coronation Street star Claire King has revealed she's been typecast with the general public, as soap viewers really believe she's a nasty piece of work in real life.
The actress said she actually gets people approaching her in the street and calling her "a bitch", which is just really awful.
"People think I'm a bitch, but I like to think I'm down-to-earth, quite caring, although I have a rhino skin because you have to protect yourself in this industry," she told The Mirror.
She said her partner reckons she's "too soft" and even she admits she's "soft as putty inside", which is quite a departure from her role as Erica Holroyd in the ITV soap.
"My fella isn't in the business and when we first started going out 10 years ago, we'd be out and someone would say, 'Oooh, it's that bitch from Emmerdale', and he'd be like, 'I can't believe they just said that' and wanted to go up and have a go.
"He didn't understand that I get that all the time."
The actress's final scenes on the cobbles aired earlier this month and she's been teasing a return as Kim Tate in Emmerdale.
"It's one of those things, isn't it? I think the rumours started because the family in Emmerdale are moving out and I happen to be leaving Corrie at the same time," she said on Good Morning Britain recently.
"People have put two and two together I guess – but I will say this, the door to Emmerdale is not locked. So never say never!"
