Yahoo News Corrie boss teases big Pat Phelan twists this summer
Coronation Street fans should prepare for some big twists in Pat Phelan's story as the show's producer has teased that things may not be as they seem.
Phelan's reign of terror on the cobbles has seen both Michael Rodwell and Andy Carver die under his watch, but the evil builder's plot could unravel in some unexpected ways over the coming months.
Speaking at a Coronation Street press event today (May 26), Kate Oates said: "We've got some great stuff with Phelan.
"There is a little twist to his story. We may discover that all is not as it seems with Phelan. I love him and can't stop watching him.
"We are bringing in Phelan's daughter – a daughter he didn't know existed. She represents the light to Phelan's darkness. What we will see is Phelan fall in love with the daughter he never knew he had, and possibly wanting to be a better man, which will be a challenge."
Plans to bring in Phelan's daughter were revealed earlier this year, with Nicola set to turn up on the Cobbles unexpectedly over the summer.
Nicola's arrival was announced alongside the news that Mary Taylor's long-lost son Jude is being brought back as a regular on the soap as well and will be bringing his whole family to Weatherfield with him.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
