Coronation Street's Gary Windass could see his darker side come out soon, with the ITV soap hinting at a new enemy for the villain.

Preview pictures for episodes later this month show Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) getting close to Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) after he tells her that Carla Connor (Alison King) has signed over management of the Underworld factory to Sarah.

Sarah responds by kissing Adam, but before things can progress, they are interrupted by Gary's (Mikey North) arrival.

Adam hides in the kitchen, while Sarah attempts to discretely shoo Gary away.

Gary wants to win Sarah back, but it is unknown how he will react if and when he sees Adam standing in the way.

Of course, viewers know that Gary is the person responsible for the Underworld roof collapse, which killed Rana Habeeb.

Mikey North, who plays Gary, recently suggested that the new villain will become "more dangerous" as the storyline continues.

"Everything he's done was for Sarah, so when she turns her back on him, he's got nothing more to lose and that makes him much more dangerous," he explained. "Gary is in deep and he's effectively fighting for his life."

Meanwhile, rumours are circulating that Gary will cause a second death and kill Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
