Coronation Street is lining up a dramatic exit for villain Will Chatterton – and it will be much sooner than imagined.

Will was recently unveiled as the mystery culprit who had been targeting Michelle Connor and her partner Robert Preston, culminating in her being drugged, kidnapped and locked in a car boot.

Thankfully, it looks like there is an end in sight for the couple's nightmare as Leon Ockenden – who plays Will – has already filmed his final scenes on the soap.

Appearing on This Morning today (August 17), Leon told hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "I finished on Corrie a week-and-a-half ago.

"The good news for everybody is that it builds to a head and the story really builds to a climax. I think it's a fitting and dramatic climax for everyone around September."

Will was first introduced to the show for a brief stint as Michelle's old flame in March 2016, in a storyline that saw her cheat on her then-husband Steve McDonald by kissing him.

Will has now returned to Weatherfield with a creepy plan to get Michelle back, but he will find himself slipping up next week when he says a bit too much.

Given that Corrie film around six to eight weeks in advance, it looks like Will will be on our screens until the end of September, so fans will have to wait and see how the story comes to a head.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
